VIVOTEK Maintains Safety of MontHill Golf & Country Club Goers
The goal of Caledonia, Ontario, Canada’s MontHill Golf and Country Club is to become one of the premier clubs in the region. Its 27-hole golf course has some of the nicest manicured greens in the area. With three different nine-hole courses, golfers have the opportunity to mix and match their plays in order to enjoy a unique experience with every visit. This state-of-the-art facility opened their golfing season with a sports bar, steakhouse, indoor golf simulators, and up to four banquet halls; thus, making it a year-round functioning club. Challenge The purpose of the security installation was to provide peace of mind for the club’s owners, staff, and its patrons during the day or night, year-round, and in and around the large clubhouse and surrounding areas. Since the property is so large and requires both inside and outside monitoring of the perimeter, installing a security system that could work within the complexity of the installation while withstanding the harsh Canadian winter, typical of the province of Ontario, was most ideal. Solution True Vision Security Solutionz chose VIVOTEK and a total of 74 of its indoor and outdoor security solutions to monitor MontHill Golf and Country Club. In the end, the outcome not only met, but surpassed their expectations and goals. For indoor monitoring, True Vision Security Solutionz installed 30 of VIVOTEK’s FD8369A-V easy-to-use fixed dome network cameras. Specifically designed for outdoor security applications but also functional indoors, it utilizes a 2MP sensor of 1920×1080 at a smooth 30 fps. Retailers Detect Theft Trends in a Few Clicks with Security Center Transaction Finder
Genetec Security Center Transaction Finder, a PoS (Point of Sale) integration tool with exception-based reporting capabilities has been designed to help retailers speed up their investigations. Embedded in the security system, Security Center Transaction Finder correlates PoS data with corresponding video, with the ability to bring in additional sources such as analytics, as an added feature. It eliminates the need to jump between different platforms, and helps investigators filter through large volumes of transactions to quickly detect suspicious activities that might warrant further investigation. Retail shrink is increasing, and theft tactics are becoming more complex, strategic and internal. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF) 2019 national retail security survey, theft, fraud and losses from other retail ‘shrink’ continues to rise (totaling $50.6 billion in 2018, up from $46.8 billion the year before). To identify theft trends and combat loss, retailers are increasingly turning to technology to put in place effective ways to work smarter and automate their processes to reduce losses and preserve valuable margin. “Working with a variety of tools and applications to reduce retail loss is a critical aspect of any retail investigator’s job. However, the enormous volume of PoS transactions to review, combined with the amount of time it takes to manually find the security video associated with potentially fraudulent activity makes this a daunting task. With Transaction Finder, we solve that problem by using a single tool that makes it easy to detect theft trends, identify suspicious transactions and locate video of interest,” explained Rob Borsch, Practice Leader – Retail and Banking at Genetec, Inc. Using the Transaction Finder task in Security Center, investigators simply enter relevant search criteria like date and time, employee name, SKUs involved in the transaction, void transactions, or whether motion was detected on the customer side of the register etc. Transaction Finder will scan the PoS database for activities that meet the selected criteria along with the associated video and the transaction details. Using customizable dashboards, investigators can quickly identify suspicious transactions, immediately review the associated video for more context, and flag transactions for further investigation.
Royal Swinkels Family Brewers
When Swinkels Family Brewers wanted to unify its access control internationally, it chose Nedap AEOS, which enabled this producer of world-famous Bavaria beer to design a system around the people using it. Argentina Selects HID goID Technology
The government of Argentina has selected HID goID® citizen identity technology to power the country’s digital version of its mandatory National Identity Document for its Mi Argentina app. The collaborative effort between HID, Argentina’s Ministry of Interior, Public Works and Housing through the National Registry of Persons (Renaper), and the Ministry of Modernization makes Argentina the first country in the world to offer a true national identity credential within a mobile app to its citizens. Currently, there are 47 million DNI cards in circulation and recent legislation has accorded full legal equivalence to the smartphone version of the card. The Mi Argentina app, which houses the National Identity Document, was developed by the Ministry of Modernization and allows citizens who download the app on their mobile devices to request appointments, receive health information, and access credentials such as their drivers’ license. Powered by HID goID technology, citizens can also access their National Identity Document on a mobile device on the app while offline. “The Government of Argentina is leading the way in bringing the convenience and security of mobile identity to its citizens,” said José D’Amico, Director of Renaper, “This innovative application is not only easy to get, but we also believe this could be the first step in digitizing identity across the government in Argentina and potentially other countries in years to come.” Citizens with the ‘Mi Argentina’ app can initiate their request for a mobile ID by visiting a Renaper office, where their identity is verified and authenticated. Once approved, they receive an email with a code to activate their National Identity Document. In the event a smartphone is lost or stolen, credentials can be immediately revoked, safeguarding the citizen from potential identity theft. The mobile ID is securely stored on the citizen’s smartphone, meaning it can still be accessed if the cell phone has no data plan or when connection to a network or Wi-Fi is not available. Storage on the phone brings additional security for the mobile ID ecosystem, as a channel back to the central database is never required. Renaper issues all citizens a National Identity Document at birth and requires two mandatory renewals – between the ages of 5 and 8, and at the age of 14. Adults are required to renew it every 15 years. “HID Global is committed to providing identity solutions that meet the evolving standards of the 21st century,” said Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, VP & Managing Director, Citizen Identity with HID Global, “The government of Argentina’s implementation of our technology provides its citizens with innovative ID access and the ease of a completely mobile experience from registration to issuance.” The government of Argentina previously partnered with HID to upgrade the country’s ICAO electronic passport to a newer generation that was more cost efficient, improved security and enhanced data reading at border control checkpoints. The successful partnership was a key factor in the government’s decision to collaborate with HID Global and deploy the HID goID mobile identity solution. HID goID technology for a more secure, connected world The HID goID mobile ID ecosystem powers a more secure and connected world based on field-proven technology. It enables the issuance, lifecycle management and verification of mobile identities, and is a customizable solution that delivers many more functions than physical identity documents.
English Premier League Uses Patented Video Security Technology from Germany
Like many national football leagues, the teams of the English Premier League also suffer from unacceptable incidents such as lighting of pyrotechnics and throwing projectiles, hate crime and vandalism. This is why as early as 2013, the managers at Everton F.C. opted for a patented video security solution from the German video technology company Dallmeier. Today, 14 of 20 clubs of the 2019-20 Premier League season have implemented Dallmeier Panomera® multifocal sensor systems – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. Dallmeier solution approach proves equal to international safety standards The patented Panomera® camera technology captures even very large areas with maximum efficiency and minimum overall operating costs Many teams in the top flight of English football are also involved in the Champions League and Europa League. So it is also extremely important for them to satisfy the safety regulations imposed internationally by UEFA and similar bodies. For this purpose, Dallmeier solutions enable high-resolution capture of expansive areas such as the stands with a minimum number of camera systems. With Panomera® cameras, multiple operators have the capability to zoom in on suspicious activities independently of each other, while the system continues recording the entire scene. With this combination of advantages of PTZ and megapixel cameras, an optimum overview of the situation is obtained, which can also be searched in the required minimum resolution at any time afterwards. This enables the clubs to achieve continuity of video evidence, get instant ID of people and events, and so reduce potential penalty payments. Smart content analysis through precisely defined image quality Besides the court usability of video recordings, the ‘minimum resolution density’ is also important for video analysis applications. As stated so succinctly by the rule – ‘quality in, quality out,’ of course the quality of the results of analysis – for example in ‘crowd analyses’ for people counting on stands, for ‘hostile vehicle mitigation’ or to detect intrusion in sterile areas – can only ever be as good as the quality of the image, and accordingly the quality of the input data. With Dallmeier solutions, as early as the planning stage customers can precisely specify the pixel density values defined according to DIN EN 62676-4 for each region of the area captured – depending on whether for example at least 62.5 px/m is required for AI-based object classification, or 125 or even 250 px/m is required to guarantee that recordings of persons will be usable in the court. “Throughout our selection procedure, the Panomera® cameras from Dallmeier were able to deliver images of the highest quality time after time, not only in normal daylight conditions, but also under weaker floodlighting, that is to say not only live but also in the recording with the highest resolution quality in all regions of the images. Moreover, with the Panomera® cameras we can capture large expanses, the entire area of the stands, for example, with just a small number of systems. Ultimately, these considerations were the critical factor in our decision to award Dallmeier the contract for video security at Goodison Park,” said David Lewis, Head of Security and Stadium Safety for Everton F.C. What we plan is what you get: 3D planning approach for maximum cost effectiveness The innovative 3D planning approach by Dallmeier provides stadium operators with the ability to place each individual camera with the highest precision in advance through the use of a ‘digital twin.’ Thus, even the planning contributes to a reduction of total costs. At the same time, the in-house planning team uses it to manage any difficulties such as visual obstacles (e.g., a video cube) or subsequent structural changes. This ensures that there are no ‘cost traps’ for the customers, and that compliance with all requirements is guaranteed without exception when the system is implemented.

IDIS Video Tech Deployed at Top Birmingham Secondary School
One of Birmingham’s top secondary schools has switched to IDIS video technology in a drive to improve security, safety, and standards of personal behaviour. With its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating, Swanshurst School is one of the city’s most popular destinations for girl’s secondary education, with more than 1800 pupils aged 11 to 19 years. “Video monitoring is key to efficient use of resources at the school,” said Swanshurst’s Strategic Business Manager, Annette Tyler, “Because we have such a busy site, the ability of our senior team to see who is entering or leaving, and to remotely monitor corridors and lobby areas, is crucial to fostering a safe and welcoming learning environment.” The school’s old CCTV system was proving difficult to use, with poor quality recordings that were hard to search through. IDIS technology was chosen to replace it, and the priority for the upgrade was not just price – although budgets remain tight for many schools – but service and performance. “To avoid a potentially costly mistake, we researched what other schools had done and looked for personal recommendations. Then we selected Unison Integrated Technology only after comparing our three shortlisted quotes and satisfying ourselves that the IDIS system would do what we wanted,” added Annette Tyler. The new solution comprises close to 110 cameras. IDIS’s DC-D4213WRX vandal resistant full-HD IR domes provide coverage for most of the school’s internal areas and more than 70 were installed. They capture pin-sharp images in all lighting conditions, handling rapid variations in brightness and shade thanks to their true wide dynamic range (WDR), and infra-red performance giving an impressive 30 metres range at night. The 27 IDIS DC-E3212WRX vandal resistant bullet cameras, which were installed to cover entrances and external areas, also deliver powerful IR night vision, with low light enhancer technology. Allowing the installation team to work more quickly, these cameras use Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) to eliminate the need for additional cabling, while the hierarchical connection between the cameras at the NVRs further guarantees the most efficient method of cabling. Optimum recording capability is provided by four IDIS NVRs (32-channel DR-6332PS-S recorders), which achieve 370Mbps throughput to ensure no latency on live footage and image capture in full HD. IDIS dual codec performance means that all footage can be recorded in high-definition H.265 but still viewed on older H.264 smartphones, tablets and monitors, so there’s no need to upgrade until the user is ready. Built-in PoE switches save further on hardware and installation costs. In the event of network instability or failure at the school, IDIS Smart Failover technology means the cameras’ SD card instantly begins recording and automatically transfers the data to the NVR after recovery, eliminating the risk of gaps in footage. Now, with minimal training, authorised senior staff and the Swanshurst reception team use the intuitive IDIS Center video monitoring software (VMS) to live-monitor internal and external areas, and quickly search recorded footage to find events of interest. This new capability is already proving to be a useful deterrent, confirmed Annette Tyler. “The solution installed by Matt Rodden and his team at Unison Integrated Technology far exceeded our expectations,” she said, “The project was delivered efficiently, and the system is so easy to use. Our pupils, parents and staff all appreciate the added protection that the new cameras give.” Looking ahead, Swanshurst School also now has the assurance that the system will remain affordable to run, with no additional fees for the IDIS Center VMS, plus options to adapt the system very easily thanks to the guaranteed forward and backward combability of IDIS tech. “Together with our integration partners, IDIS works very hard to ensure a low total cost of ownership (TCO),” said James Min, Managing Director, IDIS Europe, “This is why we are confident in offering the industry’s longest warranty against faults, the IDIS Ultimate Warranty, and in giving customers like Swanshurst School the best protection for years to come.”
