CP PLUS has recently launched an integrated platform for device monitoring – Health Monitoring System (HMS). The HMS will bolster device efficiency, performance and improve customer’s experience. Accessible 24/7, the HMS will notify and alert the participants (users, SI, SI agent) when any device incident pertaining to device malfunctioning, external alarm events, network/ power failure and storage/ recording issues crop up. Furthermore, the HMS will add value to CP PLUS products and solutions. As a primary source for checking device health status & information, the HMS will offer a wide range of benefits to customers. Push technology: Edge devices push all critical events to HMS cloud server for instant notification. Critical alarm notifications: Device offline/ online, IPC offline/ online, video loss, camera masking, recording status, external alarm, HDD alerts. Email/ SMS notifications: As soon as the device generates an alarm and sends it to the server, an Email/ SMS notification will be sent to the user immediately. Automatic ticket generation: For any incident/ irregularity, a ticket will be generated and automatically forwarded to SI or CP PLUS customer support while the customer will be notified. Auto reporting system: An automatic report of device status will be generated and can be viewed by the customer. Web-based monitoring: View the status of all the CCTV systems over the browser or the smartphone. Easy to use interface: Simple ‘traffic light’ style warning system displays the status of all customers, sites, and devices on a single screen.

IDEAL Networks has launched a new hand-held tester hat eliminates guesswork when installing, maintaining and troubleshooting PoE devices and data cabling. PoE Pro measures and reports PoE Class, voltage/ voltage drop, atts and injector type, making it easy to see how much power is available. “The new PoE Pro eliminates trial and error when installing or troubleshooting PoE systems,” said Tim Widdershoven, Marketing Director from UK technology firm IDEAL Networks, “Installers can now accurately measure the maximum power available to PoE devices in any installation.” Power over Ethernet (PoE) is used to power VoIP phones, smart lighting systems, CCTV, digital signage, Wi-Fi access points, intercoms, sensors and much more. As PoE continues to grow, technicians need fast, accurate PoE validation to eliminate guesswork and get the job done faster. “Previously technicians had to understand all the various standards, device power outputs and cable lengths to be sure a device will operate successfully. There was a lot of guesswork involved,” Tim explained, “With the PoE Pro, users can see whether 75W of power is provided to a device that needs 75W of power, such as a remote point-of-sale kiosk or a digital flight status sign at an airport. The pass-fail indication provides peace of mind the PoE device will work first time every time.” If the PoE test fails at the device location, the technician can measure available power directly from the switch or injector to instantly determine whether the problem lies with the power supply or cabling. Instant, easy to read test results are shown on the large backlit screen, up to a maximum of 90W (PoE++). It displays the voltage, PoE Class from 0 to 8 and type, whether 802.3af, at or bt, regardless of cable length, cable quality or other factors. There’s no setup or complicated configuration, users can just connect the PoE Pro to the cable or PoE port to display the maximum power available. “It’s easy to define if there is a problem with the cable, switch or device, saving loads of time,” he confirmed, “Users can quickly rule out whether they are getting enough power from the switch, and they can see which pairs have power indicating if the power is coming from a mid-span injector or a PoE switch.” There is no need for separate testers as PoE Pro is both a data cable and PoE verifier with all the familiar cable testing features of the popular VDVII Pro from IDEAL Networks. With comprehensive details on wire-map faults such as opens, shorts, crossovers and split pairs, PoE Pro can identify wiring errors instantly. It utilises time domain reflectometry (TDR) to accurately measure cable length and provide distance to fault information. “Fault finding is fast with the PoE Pro helping to minimise disruption and potential damage to fixtures and fixings,” Tim continued. There is also ethernet speed detection (10/ 100/ 1000Mb/s) and it quickly determines which media service is running over the cable such as Ethernet, ISDN, PBX and PoE resulting in faster fault diagnosis. Furthermore, users can utilise the port blink feature to identify the switch port or the in-built analogue and digital tone generator with a compatible amplifier probe for quick cable tracing. “PoE Pro is a convenient tool for security, IT, communications, PoE lighting and building automation professionals,” he concluded, “Whatever the job, the integrated RJ11/ RJ12 (voice), RJ45 (data) and F-Type (video) connectors allow faster testing of most types of low-voltage cables. It’s the ideal way to validate PoE and deliver accurate proof of performance.  

Hikvision has launched the latest generation Turbo HD series – Turbo HD X, which is a complete system to help stop intruders in real-time, avoiding damage and loss of property. From passive monitoring to active deterrence, in a wide variety of applications The Hikvision Turbo HD X series of cameras have a builtin detector that captures infrared light emitted by human bodies, distinguishing it from other visual ‘noise.’ Once the camera detects a potential intruder, its built-in siren flashes red and blue light and a loud sound with the aim of frightening the intruder away. The Turbo HD X series can support a broad range of perimeter protection and security system processes for in-process warning and evidence collection after an event. It enables transformation of the traditional monitoring and post-event investigation approach, and helps change perimeter protection from passive monitoring to active deterrence in order to protect people and assets. It can be used in warehouses, residences, jewellery stores and more. A complete end-to-end system More importantly, the Turbo HD X is a complete and unified system, featuring front-end devices linking to back-end devices and a remote application. As the front-end alarm sends a warning to potential intruders, the system also triggers an alarm at the back-end to notify security personnel. Users can also receive alarm information remotely via an application on their mobile devices. Even better false-alarm reduction Turbo HD X cameras can also be integrated with Hikvision’s cutting-edge AcuSense DVRs. The intelligent false-alarm reduction technology within these DVRs will disregard irrelevant movements picked up by the camera – such as rain, leaves and animals – and instead focus exclusively on human or vehicle movement. Together, this integrated solution dramatically reduces the number of false alarms and ensures security staff focus on actual targets for greater efficiency. The monitors, which feature a 7-inch-high resolution colour LCD screen are now available in both a matt black or satin white finish for a number of Videx popular door entry systems. Video door entry is a very popular access control choice because it enables a resident to see and talk to a caller prior to opening the door which offers additional peace of mind and security as they have the option to deny access to a caller without having to open the door first. Our 6700 series of hands free monitors carry a number of advanced features such as entrance recall, door release, a do not disturb function and an optional video clip record facility while maintaining ease of use and installation. The monitors are available with a video memory feature that can be used with or without a Micro SD card to capture an image or short video of a caller enabling the occupant to see any visitors they may have missed throughout the day. Without the Micro SD card installed, the 6700 series is able to store up to 100 still images of the caller, while with a Micro SD card it’s possible to store up to 4096 still images or up to 512 15 second video clips of callers. The facility can be used manually where the user can press a button to either take a picture of the caller, start recording a short video clip or it can be used in an automatic mode where the picture/ video clip will automatically be taken when a visitor calls – allowing the user to review any missed calls when they arrive home. The Micro SD card can also be removed allowing the images and video clips to be used in another device such as a mobile, tablet or PC. Due to popular demand, they are now able to offer the monitors in a matt black soft touch high end finish as well as the standard satin white finish, so that they complement any surrounding area or environment, as well as providing a great access control solution. With the video monitors, there’s also a number of programmable features such as ring tone, privacy time and number of rings allowing each apartment to be customised to the client’s needs. Currently the monitors are available for the full video kit range, VX2200 6 wire system for low and high rise apartments and the VX2300 2 wire system enabling these monitors to be used in one apartment systems through to systems with up to 1000 apartments.  

Vicon Industries, Inc. designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, hardware and components, has recently announced that train ing and certification for its VAX access control system is now available as a convenient online course. Following the same curriculum as Vicon’s popular in-person training program, the new online class provides in-depth instruction on all aspects of VAX, from setup and programming to operational capabilities and special features. Coursework includes hands-on learning and exercises that make use of the actual VAX software. In addition, participants are encouraged to connect to any standard ONVIF compliant camera to simulate the most realistic user experience. The new, online, on-demand format allows participants to schedule classes at their convenience, log-in from a location of their choice and learn at their own pace. The VAX course is offered in two versions – both cover the same material. The VAX certification course is recommended for installing dealers. It takes approximately 10-12 hours to complete, including required testing. It must be completed within 60 days after starting the session. The VAX basic course does not include any exams, has no time limit for completion and does not confer ‘certified’ status. Axis announces the 7th generation of its own ARTPEC chip, optimized for network video. The new chip will power an array of new capabilities and features coming to Axis network cameras. These features include even better im aging, enhanced security features, powerful compression and a possibility to run impressive analytics on the edge. Moreover, since the chip is fully developed by Axis, it provides a layer of control that is crucial for effective cybersecurity. Going forward, the new chip will be the basis for the vast majority of Axis network video products. One of the first cameras to include this chip is the AXIS P1375. “In the current market situation, we believe Axis has a strong competitive advantage as one of only a few manufacturers with our own system-on-chip,” says Johan Paulsson, Chief Technology Officer, “We have complete control over every single transistor, which is very good from a trust and cybersecurity perspective. Increased sensitivity to light also significantly extends the range of illumination for Axis cameras with IR. Enhanced security features ARTPEC-7 enables ‘built-in’ security features for Axis cameras including signed firmware so only secure authorized firmware can be installed and secure boot, which prevents booting of unauthorized firmware. Powerful compression Future Axis cameras will also let users choose between H.264 and H.265 video encoding depending on what best suits their system and surveillance needs. Either encoding standard in combination with Axis Zipstream technology will now require even lower bandwidth and storage space without sacrificing image quality. In addition, users are free to re-evaluate their choice of codec at any time if their requirements should change.
