‘Game-changing’ IDIS Video Solution ‘Making Sure The Party Never Stops

Media personality and entrepreneur Richard Rawlings expanding Gas Monkey Garage brand is firmly in the driving seat, thanks to AI video tech from IDIS Gas Monkey Garage, the automotive custom shop and entertainment brand founded by Richard Rawlings of Fast N’ Loud TV fame, has opened a vibrant new restaurant and bar in South Dakota, equipped with advanced, AI-enhanced video tech from IDIS Americas. The new venue, immersed in biking history, has quickly become a popular gathering spot as well as a museum – right at the heart of the local community and famous for hosting full-throttle events throughout the year, including the largest biking rally in the United States. The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a series of electrifying motorcycle events, leather, live music, and food, which this year has just celebrated its 85th anniversary with 537,459 vehicles counted, the highest participation in years. The IDIS video solution not only ensures safety and security at this landmark event but operates year-round, 24/7, helping to keep the business running smoothly with a high-octane atmosphere and awesome customer service even at the busiest and loudest times. Installed by KB Technologies, Gas Monkey’s trusted integrator, the fully NDAA-compliant solution gives Richard Rawlings and his senior team full visibility not just from their workstations at their Dallas HQ over a thousand miles away, but also while on the move, with easy system control via their phones and tablets. It comprises advanced cameras, network recorders, VMS operating software, and the IDIS Mobile Plus app, enabling management and control from anywhere at any time. IDIS 5MP AI IR Dome Cameras deliver superior image quality even in variable and challenging lighting conditions, including complete darkness, thanks to IDIS LightMaster NIR technology. The cameras support H.265 combined with IDIS’s patented Intelligent Codec video compression technology, significantly reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. Their advanced AI capabilities include object detection, classification, and behavior analysis, allowing enhanced surveillance with accurate, automated alerts to events of interest, including suspicious activity. IDIS 5MP Fisheye Cameras provide Gas Monkey Garage with the most efficient route to achieving complete scene coverage of wide areas in high definition. By delivering the same coverage as three or four fixed lens cameras, they reduced both upfront equipment costs and maintenance. The IDIS Center video management software (VMS) is cost and license-free, offering all the essential tools for liveview, playback, export, and control, which makes operations easy to manage. Specific user permissions give senior managers and authorized system administrators appropriate access. The IDIS solution also comes with all the benefits of Smart Failover protection against video data loss in the event of network failure; multi-layered cyber security protection; extended product life and warranties; easy upgrade options and flexibility built in; and an industry-leading low total cost of ownership (TCO). “This project will evolve and grow as Gas Monkey continues to expand,” said Keith Daulton, Regional Director of Sales, South Central US, “Our flexible, scalable technology will allow seamless upgrades and system expansion, meaning Gas Monkey Garage will never be stuck with outdated video infrastructure that’s a barrier to growth.” Richard Rawlings says that IDIS technology is the way to go for anyone who is serious about security, “Let me tell you, the IDIS system at Gas Monkey Sturgis is badass! Crystal-clear video, remote access, and top-notch security – this setup has been a total game-changer for us. When you’ve got thousands of people rolling through during the Sturgis Rally, you need eyes on everything, and IDIS delivers. It’s helped us keep things locked down and running smoothly, making sure the party never stops.” Read More

Milestone Video Technology Powers Brazil’s Critical Water Infrastructure Safety

Thanks to a new video surveillance solution based on Milestone XProtect software, a major Brazilian public water treatment company located in the capital, Brasilia, has significantly reduced its incident response time to just 15 minutes, through automated alerts and real-time video verification. This has delivered substantial operational and financial benefits. Milestone XProtect implementation at Brasilia water facilities Milestone Systems, a global provider of open-platform analytics and video management software (VMS), anchored the implementation of its XProtect solution at one of Brazil’s most important public wastewater treatment companies. The organization manages an extensive network of treatment plants, reservoirs, and operational facilities that supply water to over 2 million people – protecting critical infrastructure while optimizing operational costs. Challenges: Remote locations; outdated, limited and costly system The wastewater management company needed to monitor hundreds of operational units, many of them located in remote areas, which presented increasing challenges. Traditional surveillance methods were becoming increasingly costly and ineffective, while the previous video system lacked the processing capacity needed for such a large-scale deployment. Solution: XProtect VMS connects the sites centrally To address this, in collaboration with integration partner Brasília Segurança, the water management organization implemented a robust and centralized security solution built on Milestone Systems’ open-platform XProtect VMS. The system integrates 670 cameras – both new and legacy – distributed across multiple locations throughout the infrastructure. The organization now operates a Global Monitoring Center equipped with a four-meter LED video wall and operator workstations. The Milestone Federated Architecture, with local recording servers at each site, manages data across all locations. Larger facilities with up to 160 cameras are supported by dedicated servers, ensuring efficient and reliable system-wide performance. “The robustness of the system gives us confidence. This isn’t just any VMS – we have complete confidence in our ability to efficiently manage storage, analytics, and image processing, because information security – both at the edge and within the system – is essential for us,” said Renan Humberto de Souza Cavalcante, Technical Manager at Brasília Segurança. The open-platform VMS integrates with the Invenzi access control system and Bosch alarm systems, creating a unified and efficient security ecosystem. Results: Greater efficiency and faster incident response This optimized model has significantly improved operational efficiency, particularly for simultaneous monitoring across multiple locations. Its modular configuration allows settings to be adjusted according to the needs of each facility – from enhanced surveillance to day-to-day access control. Additionally, the management software enables centralized oversight of security personnel, alarms, and other resources through a unified interface that integrates images, maps, and operational data. “When an alarm is triggered, our operators immediately access the video recordings from that location and review the previous two minutes to understand the situation. If we confirm an unauthorized entry, we notify our security team right away and provide ongoing remote support via the camera streams managed by the Milestone VMS,” said Renan Humberto de Souza Cavalcante, Technical Manager at Brasília Segurança. The modernization of the security infrastructure continues to evolve with a strategic vision. The addition of 400 more cameras marks the beginning of a broader technology expansion that includes facial recognition implementation and the adoption of advanced forensic analysis tools such as XProtect BriefCam with Video Synopsis fast search. “What began as a cost-reduction strategy has become a comprehensive solution that improves both security and operational efficiency. With each new expansion, we continue discovering new ways to leverage the open platform architecture to strengthen our operations,” said Renan Humberto de Souza Cavalcante, Technical Manager at Brasília Segurança. With the implementation of Milestone’s open-platform VMS, the Brazilian public organization has not only modernized its security management but also significantly reduced operating costs. This scalable, data-driven strategy has enhanced both surveillance effectiveness and operational efficiency – laying the foundation for continued innovation in the protection of critical infrastructure.
