First ASIS South Asia Meet 2024 Held in Mumbai

The inaugural ASIS South Asia Meet 2024 was successfully held at the Taj Santa Cruz, Mumbai, on 17 October 2024. The event brought together security professionals from across India, offering a platform for insightful discussions, industry updates, and networking opportunities.

The day began with a security briefing, followed by a 2-minute silence in honour of Col. Inderjeet Singh. The formal commencement of the event was marked by Sanjeev Tiwari (PWC) ringing the bell, followed by the lighting of the lamp accompanied by the National Anthem. Dignitaries such as Danny Chan, Paul Devassy, Wilfred Bradford, Sanjay Kaushik, and Sanjeev Tiwari participated in this opening ceremony.

Danny Chan, ASIS Global Board Member, delivered the Welcome Address, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by the keynote address by Lt Gen Vipul Shinghal, AVSM, SM, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, who shared valuable insights from his distinguished military career.

Another notable keynote was ‘The Whistleblower’s Edge: Courage, Consequence, and Change’ by Rajan Nair, which left the audience deeply engaged.

Among the many discussions, Umang Pathak led an engaging session on ‘Navigating the Future with ESG’ (Environmental, Social, and Governance), exploring the intersection of security and sustainability.

The event also featured multiple panel discussions with distinguished speakers, including Col Kanwar Kishore, Harvindra Singh, CPP, Chapter Chairman, ASIS New Delhi, Amarpreet Sudan, Chapter Chairman, Mumbai, Col Ravinder Paliwal, Col Ravi Madhok (Flipkart), Nirmith Thakur (British Petroleum), and Major Himanshu Ohlan (Blinkit), all of whom provided valuable insights into the evolving security landscape.

Another key highlight was the fireside chat titled ‘Exploring the Mind’s Labyrinth: Navigating Psychological Risks in the Security Sector,’ featuring Paul Devassy, SRVP, ASIS International, in conversation with Anuradha Kavuri, a renowned psychologist. The discussion delved into the psychological aspects of risk management in today’s security environment.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Sanjay Kaushik from Netrika, followed by a cocktail and dinner, offering attendees an opportunity to unwind and network in a more informal setting.

The ASIS South Asia Meet 2024 was a resounding success, showcasing the strong leadership and collaborative efforts of security professionals across the region.
