CAPSI Hosts Rajasthan Corporate Security and Skill Conclave

The Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) successfully hosted the Rajasthan Corporate Security and Skill Conclave on 20 May 2023 at the Radisson Hotel, Jodhpur. The event brought together security professionals, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss the latest developments in corporate security and skill-building in Rajasthan. With a focus on addressing industry challenges and exploring innovative solutions, the conclave proved to be an engaging and informative event.

Mahaveer Singh Bhati, the President of the Rajasthan Chapter of CAPSI, welcomed the delegates to the event. In his opening address, he extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries present, with a special mention of Kunwar Vikram Singh, Chairman of CAPSI, acknowledging his invaluable guidance that made the conclave possible.

Kunwar Vikram Singh expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to have hosted the Rajasthan Corporate Security and Skill Conclave. This platform served as an opportunity for professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences, and we hope it will contribute to the development of a more secure and skilled workforce in Rajasthan.”

The esteemed inauguration of the Conclave was carried out by M L Kumawat, IPS (Retd.), Founder Vice Chancellor, Sardar Patel University of Police, Security and Criminal Justice (SPUPCJ). The event featured key discussions on promoting security courses of international standards, generating employment opportunities, women empowerment, and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the entire nation. Smt. Pooja Mehra, Deputy Director of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (MSME), Jodhpur provided valuable insights into the various programs initiated by MSME to support the industry.

Chain Singh Mahecha, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jodhpur, expressed his delight upon learning that the private security force outnumbers the total number of police forces in the country. He assured that he is readily available to provide any necessary support and assistance.

A presentation on ‘Need of Private Security in PSU’ was made by Nagendra S Chundawat (CSP), Chief Security Officer, Wonder Cement Ltd. He said that while PSUs have traditionally played a key role in safeguarding men and material, collaboration with private security firms can bring numerous benefits. Private Security Agencies, with their localized presence and intimate knowledge of the environment, can improve response times and enhance overall safety measures. By acting as an extension of the or ganization, private security personnel provide an additional layer of security that complements the efforts of the PSU. As the importance of comprehensive security continues to grow, embracing such collaborative approaches becomes essential in protecting vital assets and personnel.

Vikram Mahurkar, Vice Chairman, CAPSI while speaking on the topic ‘Skilling Youth in Security & Fire Protection’ said that in today’s rapidly evolving world, ensuring security and fire protection has become paramount. To address this need, skilling the youth in the fields of security and fire protection offers numerous benefits. It not only equips young individuals with valuable skills but also contributes to the overall safety and well-being of communities. By providing specialized training and certifications, young individuals can acquire the knowledge and practical skills necessary to excel in various roles such as security guards, surveillance operators, fire safety officers or emergency responders. Moreover, such training programs foster personal development by instilling discipline, professionalism, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. These transferable skills empower individuals to succeed not only in the security and fire protection fields but also in various other professional endeavours.

“A key aspect of bolstering corporate security is conducting a thorough risk assessment tailored to the organization’s unique needs,” said CAPSI President, VV Katti while speaking on the topic ‘Strengthening Corporate Security,’ “This assessment includes identifying potential vulnerabilities and threats, both internally and externally. By understanding the risks, appropriate security measures can be implemented to mitigate them effectively. Qualified and well-trained security personnel are integral to a strong corporate security framework. Trained in access control, emergency response, conflict resolution, and incident management, these professionals play a crucial role in protecting premises and responding effectively to security threats. Ongoing training and development opportunities keep their skills up to date with the latest industry practices. He further added, strengthening corporate security is not a one-time effort but an ongoing commitment. It requires collaboration, vigilance, and a proactive mindset. By working together and staying ahead of emerging threats, we can protect our organizations, employees, and customers.”

He urged to all, to prioritize corporate security within their organizations. He said, let us invest in the necessary resources, technologies, and training to ensure that our businesses are resilient against security threats. By doing so, we can create a safe and secure environment that fosters trust, growth, and success.

The Conclave was attended by students from SPUPCJ University, who were presented with certificates of participation. The Chief Guest recognized the dedication and hard work of over 100 security personnel from different Private Security Agencies by awarding them the prestigious Golden Guard Awards, acknowledging their exceptional service in the line of duty.

Mahesh Sharma, Secretary General of CAPSI, delivered the closing Vote of Thanks, concluding the program.
